THE CLEAR FUTURE FOR YOUR CHILD'S VISION

Focal Pointe Eye Care uses orthokeratology for children to help address the growing problem of progressive nearsightedness or myopia and offer children a way to see clearly without the need for glasses or contact lenses.

DOES YOUR CHILD WEAR GLASSES?

Some children hate to wear glasses, while others love them.

If you have a child whose glasses frequently end up mysteriously  broken or lost, it may be a sign they are uncomfortable or self-conscious wearing glasses.

Contact lenses can be a good alternative for children who are able to accept the responsibility for lens care and proper wear.

At one time those were pretty much your only options for vision correction.

Today, there is another option that is suitable for many children:  Orthokeratology.

Instead of wearing glasses or contacts during waking hours, your child wears a special set of contact lenses while they sleep.  These contact lenses gently mold the surface of the eye overnight to achieve uncorrected clear vision during waking hours.

No more lost contacts or broken glasses.

Meet Diegan.  At age 8, Diegan had been wearing glasses for several years.  Today, thanks to orthokeratology, Diegan has 20/20 vision without glasses or contacts.

HOW DOES ORTHOKERATOLOGY WORK?

child with braces on teeth
Chances are you have seen children wear retainers at night to hold their teeth in place after they have had braces.  The concept of orthokeratology is similar.

Specially designed contact lenses will gently shape the front of your eyes (the cornea) while you are sleeping.   The process is painless and unnoticeable for most patients.

The benefit is when you wake up, you no longer have to reach for your glasses or put in contact lenses to see clearly.  Instead, you remove the orthokeratology lenses and go about your day, whether that's school, work or play.

ARE CHILDREN GOOD CANDIDATES FOR ORTHOKERATOLOGY?

Orthokeratology can be an option for almost any age, unlike refractive surgery which has age restrictions.

Children can be especially good candidates if they are prone to losing or damaging glasses or have difficulty wearing contact lenses.

Children who are nearsighted (myopic) are also good candidates as orthokeratology can slow or stop the progression of myopia.
