KEEP YOUR EYES HEALTHY
with FOCAL POINTE EYE CARE

Our patients tell us they want healthy eyes and often ask questions about the difference between healthy and unhealthy eyes.

Unhealthy eyes tend to be affected by eye diseases that could progressively impact vision.

By comparison, healthy eyes may experience temporary conditions like redness due to allergies, exposure to pool chlorine, or dryness from the wind or other environmental factors.  Usually these irritations go away after a short period of time.

Even healthy eyes can experience difficulty with seeing clearly and may need vision correction like glasses or contact lenses.  Your ability to see clearly without correction is largely based on the shape of your eyes.

From a distance, everyone's eyes appear to be shaped the same:  Round.  When looked at up close, we can see tiny differences in the shape of the front of the eye - known as the cornea.   When the surface of the eye is more oval than round, or even bumpy, those differences can impact your ability to see clearly.

So, just because you may need vision correction, doesn't necessarily mean you have unhealthy eyes.

Below you will find more information about some of the conditions healthy eyes may experience.
