Beginning with the greeting by the receptionist upon entering the building to the staff member that began my initial exam and throughout the office, everyone treated me with upmost respect and courtesy. “My name is Rita and about 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with kerataconus. (Most peoples corneas look like half a marble, smooth and clean. My corneas look like a mountain range). During a five year period I was fitted three different times unsuccessfully for glasses. Then I was diagnosed with this corneal disease. I decided to try University of Cincinnati-Cincinnati Eye Institute in search of a corneal specialist and found Dr. Lyons. Amazingly, he fit me nearly perfectly the first time with hard lenses. It was so wonderful to be able to see again. I did not realize how bad my eyes really were. I have followed Dr. Lyons from UC-CEI to his new business Focal Pointe Eyecare. I appreciate his expertise and willingness to stay on the cutting edge of technology. I also love the staff, especially Stacey and Shirley. I live in Northern Kentucky and make the trip to see him in West Chester. The trip is always worth it. Due to my night shift in the Emergency Room, I had a terrible problem with dry eyes. After trying different remedies, he suggested Scleral Lenses. These are specialized lenses designed to keep moisture in the eyes. They were very expensive, but with the help of Stacey in the office and having my vision insurance, most of the cost was covered. Since then, he has fitted me four times with new lenses. Most recently, now that I am 48, I require bifocal lenses. He has fitted me again, nearly perfectly with bifocal Scleral lenses. I still need reading glasses occasionally when my eyes are very tired, however, thanks to Dr. Lyons knowledge, I can see great again. Thanks for giving me near perfect vision!”
